Services

What I do

Every project starts with a free site survey, ends with a documented system that you understand and own.

Home video surveillance

A discreet, reliable camera system for your home. Privacy intact, recording stays local, access stays yours.

Licence plate recognition (ANPR)

Automated gate access by plate, entry log, allow/deny lists. Runs on the Axis platform — no extra server.

Upgrading an existing system

Old DVR out, IP system in. Existing cabling reused where possible.

Why Axis

Not every camera is the same

Axis is the industry standard for serious video surveillance. Here's why I install them.

Reliability you can guarantee

Axis hardware ships with documented MTBF, long firmware support, and spare parts available for years. Cheap cameras don't talk about any of this.

Privacy by design

Local recording, encrypted channels, user permissions. Not a forced cloud with questionable legal status.

Edge analytics built in

Motion detection, ANPR, object classification — all on the camera itself. No extra server, no monthly cloud fee.

Software still updated five years later

Axis pushes regular security updates for years. You don't replace your system every two years.

Who installs

Experience from environments where reliability matters.

For years I’ve worked with video surveillance systems in high-demand environments where reliability, structured cabling, and long-term maintainability are not optional. That kind of experience quickly teaches you what separates a properly designed system from a cheap one: documented installations, local recording, carefully planned camera placement, and software platforms that remain supported for years.

Most homeowners are sold inexpensive cloud-based NVR systems — platforms that lose support after a few years and leave you with limited control over your own footage. CatEye Surveillance was created to bring the same professional approach to residential-scale projects: one installer, one clear line of responsibility, from the initial site survey to the final handover.

Data sovereignty

Your video. Your control.

Recordings stay on your premises. No Chinese cloud, no unknown third party.

Local recording

Footage is stored on-site, on a Synology NAS. It does not leave your property.

GDPR-compliant install

Signage, logs, data subject rights. I document what is filmed and who has access.

Encrypted remote access

If you want to view from your phone, the connection is encrypted and authenticated. Closed by default.

Vendor-independent

Axis is a Swedish manufacturer. Your camera does not "phone home" to unknown jurisdictions.

How it works

Four steps. Transparent process.

  1. Free site survey

I come over and we walk through it. What you want protected, where the gaps are, what's possible. About an hour.

  2. Solution design

Written quote: camera positions, models, recording, cabling, price. No surprises.

  3. Installation

Proper cabling, clean fitting, everything tested on site. Typical home: one working day.

  4. Handover and support

I show you how to use the system and leave the documentation. Warranty, maintenance options, and post-install support.

Example

A typical install

A typical home install is one working day. Larger sites (older buildings, lots of cabling, multiple floors) may take two. The quote always specifies the schedule.
